C.J.’s Customs: The Persings

Inspired by my real life friends…

fr-2pck-persings-copy.jpg

Figure:
Phillip, Beckie, and Gabe Persing

Series:
Friends and Family

Recipe:
Phil features the body of a DST Season 5 Angel and head of a Marvel Legends Series 6 Punisher. Paint was applied to his hair. Beckie has the Torso of a “Together Forever” Willow, the skirt of a “New Moon Rising” Tara and head of a Season 3 Fred (all DST parts). She has paint apps applied throughout the skirt so her outfit matched. Gabe is the Connor baby from the Angel toy

Accessories:
Base, Bookcase, Books, Candle, Bottle, Shoulder Bag, Parenting Book.

Reasoning Behind The Effort:
My friends Phil and Beckie had a baby. I made this for them in celebration. I’m sure they would have preferred a set of jammies or a nice winter hat for their child, but I gave them toys…I’m a horrible friend.

Additional Thoughts
This was a set I did as a gift. I put a solid foot forward, and with the exception of the paint apps to Beckie’s Eyes, I think it came out pretty well. I am just horrible at painting eyes, what can you do? Anyway, I still thought the set was a pretty neat display piece for a shelf or something…Now the baby Gabe has grown, so the figures are not as relevant, but I like to think they hold some sentimental value for them. Commenting on Commentaries: The Fugitive

Really dull. Just uninteresting all around. Director Andrew Davis and actor Tommy Lee Jones don’t really shed much light on the movie’s development or execution, and I was really disappointed. Not much to say other than I won’t ever listen again, and I advise against listening for others. Sorry for those who were interested, but it’s just not very good–at least I didn’t think so.

Commenting on Commentaries: Copland

This commentary has a full roster: actors Ray Liotta, Robert Patrick, Writer-Director James Mangold, and producer Cathy Conrad. The four go back and forth on a number of very interesting topics, including acting, dealing with actors, public expectation, press scrutiny, and directing. The conversation is consistenly interesting, very engaging, and maintains a solid pace. This is a really stellar bonus feature. It’s not one of those commentaries with alot of “This is how we did this” but more of “This is hard because” or “this story point is interesting because”. All the speakers bring a great deal of insight and interesting ideas to the commentary track, and–dare I say–it feels like a very organic, free-flowing conversation among friends about this journey they all took, and the result of said journey. It’s really a pleasure. I loved this commentary.
